| | Jim Sanders Maui Real Estate Blog Maui Real Estate Information and Resources | Enjoy these great Maui Events Things to do on Maui for the month of August August 04, 2007 | The end of summer is near. Upcountry Maui homes glitter in the beauty of oceanview Maui sunsets coming earlier in the afternoon. So let's celebrate the coming of fall with a few final summer flings. Artistry abounds in upcountry Maui, a great example is at Hui No'eau in Makawao. From August 1st through the 11th is the Hui's Annual Children's Art Exhibit; where the talented youngsters of Hui No'eau show their latest works.
Across the way, in beautiful Kaanapali, the 18th Annual Maui Onion Festival will take place August 4th and 5th at Whalers Village. This yearly festival celebrates the Maui Onion (aka Kula Onion), a special variety grown on the slopes of Upcountry Maui, known worldwide for its "so sweet you can eat it like an apple" taste. Whether you live in an Upcountry Maui home, or a beachfront Wailea condo, this Maui grown specialty is well worth the drive out to wonderful West Maui.
Another great event, taking place on the 18th of this month in Upcountry Maui, is the monthly 1 day service trip at Haleakala National Park. Located far above the oceanview homes of Upcountry Maui, the Haleakala National Park is one of the most beautiful places on the planet; a dormant volcanic landscape of exquisite cinder cones dotted throughout with the rare Silversword plant, miles upon miles of serenely isolated beauty. The Maui Parks department holds these monthly service trips to keep the park pristine, while providing the participants a great opportunity to experience the natural beauty Haleakala has to offer.
A few days later, on August 25th, take in the beautiful Maui sunset while enjoying an evening of soothing scents and sounds of the Lavender at Sunset event at Ali'i Kula Lavender. Situated on the slopes of Upcountry Maui, with a great view down the mountain through South Maui and out towards Molokai, Lavender at Sunset will definitely be a "can't miss" event.
Finally, to cap off the month of August, enjoy an elegant island themed dinner at the 15th Annual Maui Chef's Present . . . at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa in Kaanapali. Gourmet cuisine with an island flavor and live entertainment will be the perfect event to bring this summer to a close.
