Four great charity events this month across Maui
December 07, 2007 | Get into the spirit by helping others this holiday season! There are four great charity events this month across Maui for all to enjoy the spirit of giving! First up, on December 8th from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in East Maui, we have Paia Gives: An Evening of Giving & Holiday Shopping, presented by the Paia Merchants Association. Every merchant in Paia town will be selling raffle tickets at $5 each with proceeds going to charities state wide. Then, at 8:00 p.m. the fun begins as the Paia Town merchants announcing their raffle winners in store!
In Central Maui, from December 4th - December 14th, Valley Isle Gymnastics will be holding a toy drive for the neglected and abused youth of Maui at their location (250 Alamaha Street, Kahului) from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. It's asked that you please donate items such as dolls, toy cars, craft sets, or even gift certificates, but please no stuffed animals or toys requiring batteries. Down in sunny South Maui, the statewide Lokahi Giving project will be held through December 24th at Azeka Shopping Center in Kihei. Founded 22 years ago as a means of bringing Christmas to Hawaii families who otherwise might not have one, the Lokahi Giving Project offers an easy way to contribute: simply drop off an unwrapped family oriented gift or donation at any merchant in the Azeka Shopping Center.
Finally, if you're motorcycle enthusiast and want to help brighten a child's Christmas, come take part in the Toys for Tots Maui Toy Run on December 16th. Bikes will meet at the Kahului Shopping Center Burger King parking lot at 9:00 a.m. with the run commencing at 10:00 a.m. Bring some toys and your favorite bike to take in the beautiful Maui landscape from Kahului to Kula and back down to Kihei.
