February 16, 2008 | Tired of renting when you know you're ready to own your Maui dream home? Well, here's a few reasons why you should stop waiting and take the plunge!
Control, control, control: When you rent, you have only minor control over many aspects of your dwelling. Want to re-decorate, say hang your most valuable paintings, or paint the wall a nice bright orange? Maybe you simply want to get a new satellite dish to enjoy their new 10,000 channel programming. If you're renting, small holes in the wall (or roof) or a new coat of paint not in line with the owners taste can be disastrous. On the other hand, if you own the Maui home you're staying in, you could bash a 6ft hole in the wall and not have to worry (unless you have a significant other living with you.)
DIY: Need something fixed in your ocean view Haiku home? Since you own it, you can have it fixed ASAP, how and when you want, without having to seek your landlords approval first.
$$$: If you rent, your monthly rent goes into your landlords pocket. If you own, any money you put into your piece of Maui real estate is an investment in your well being; we all have to live somewhere so why not make that somewhere our own? |
