Hula: a mystic and ancient form of Hawaiian story telling via dance. This wonderful art form is alive and well to this day, entertaining audiences throughout the world with its combination of smooth dance moves and haunting chants, often set to the backdrop of enchanting Hawaiian music. The year 2008 has been designated the "Year of the Hula" throughout the County of Maui; making this years 3rd annual Ku Mai Ka Hula: Hula Appears International Hula Competition all the more special. Featuring winners representing Hula ha lau's from Japan and Hawaii, these talented dancers will perform in both solo and group competitions in traditional (kahiko) and modern day ('auana) categories.
