VOTE
Problem: I'm too busy.
Fix: Various members of the government are suggesting taking the day off work for this election. Whoever you support, their economic decisions will have a huge influence in the coming four years, so if you think one candidate or another will make your life better, it's worth taking the time off if possible.
Problem: My vote doesn't count.
Fix: If you are skeptical as to whether your vote specifically will turn the tide in favor of one candidate or the other, the answer is: don't be silly. Governance is about cooperation. If it's not worth it to you, know that it's worth it to someone else. People join together to fight for what they believe in. Imagine if the soldiers of WWII thought that their joining wouldn't make a difference. The vote is about numbers. Cooperate for the sake of your personal values.
Problem: Politics are too confusing and I can't read through all the complicated legislative opinions and governing history of these candidates to find the truth.
Fix: Maybe you can't, but there are others who have. Pick your favorite non-profit organization. Go to their website and vote for whoever they are supporting. That way you are in sync with others who share your values. Chances are that the lawyers of these organizations have gone over each candidate's record with a fine tooth comb for you, and are making as educated a choice as a group or person could possibly make.
Problem: I'm not interested in national politics at all.
Fix: Fine. Vote on local issues and office holders. These are things that are close to home, literally, and are very personal to you and your daily life. You want to support a mayor who isn't going to make your life miserable. Also, if you choose a senator or house representative that represents your values, they will go to Washington and influence national decisions for you.
Problem: People might sabbotage and rig this election. What if they prevent my vote from going through?
Fix: The more people show up, the more you will ruin their plans.
Problem: I just can't focus on any of this stuff.
Fix: If you are still reading this, then you have a better attention span than most people. That being the case, your opinion is very valuable. Vote.
