Maui's First Light Film Festival

The Maui Film Festival is presenting the First Light Film Festival between December 13th-30th, excluding the 24th and 25th of course. This should be great fun for those of you who are interested in independant or Academy Award-worthy films. The screenings will be at the Castle Theater, and you can get passes or single film tickets an hour before each screening.
You can get more logistical details, check out the Maui Arts and Cultural Center website, and if you want more information on the shows, such as schedule updates, film trailers and synopsis, then check the Maui Film Festival website. These events are really fun, not just because of the quality of films shown, but the nice little side perks like live music, dinner, desert and such. They even offer complimentary massage at the Candle Light Cage between 5 and 7:30pm on FirstLight screening nights.
The films to be shown cover a wide variety, including the Changeling, Vicky Christina Barcelona, Fuel, Gran Torino and many others you may or may not have heard of. This could be a great marathon for those of you who want to get out more during the holidays, or need a film culture injection. Besides, how many great movies do you get to watch on a 41' by 27' screen with up to 1199 other people? The Castle Theater is the largest 35mm theater in Hawaii.
If you happen to be visiting, then you are in for a real treat. What better place to attend a film festival than Maui, especially during the holidays? If you are sick of freezing winters and you're interested in film, you really want to be on Maui for this. When the journey on the screen is over, you can go out on your own adventures. Instead of shoveling snow, you can spend the day on a warm beach with a quiet ocean, go snorkeling, or take a drive through some amazing jungles with spectacular waterfalls right along the road.
