What Maui Real Estate Means to Us

North shore Maui real estate

Why move to Maui? We're guessing that if you are considering it, you've probably visited and had an incredible time. We're also guessing that many of you aren't entirely sure what a long term stay on Maui would be like. Your best bet is to take it from the words of our agents, so that not only will you understand why we adore Maui, but you will also appreciate the intimite knowledge of the island that is crucial for any Maui real estate agent to possess. As Jim Sanders says, "Our agents love Maui and will show you Maui beyond your expectations."

Everyone's relationship with the island is different, but you will see a few common themes, such as the stunning natural beauty that Maui possesses. Pete Jalbert (RS) explains that, "Maui Na Ka Oi is a saying you will see and hear all over the island of the Maui. It translates to Maui is the best. You won’t hear me argue. Whether it is watching another beautiful rainbow or the thrill of surfing with a sea turtle, I am enriched by my experiences on this wonderful island. "

North Shore Real EstateBilly Jalbert (RB) eloquently describes the lure that enticed he and his wife Carla to marry in Haiku, and to stay on Maui permanently. "We were attracted to Maui's natural beauty and the spirit of ohana. With an ideal outdoor lifestyle, a diverse population and the good friends that we had made over the years while visiting, we decided to make Maui our home. We have now been in Maui over 8 years and live in Spreckelsville with our two children, Malia and Ryder, our two dogs and a cat. We cherish every moment we spend here. In our spare time we spend a lot of time at the beach, surfing, stand-up paddling, windsurfing, and of course enjoy the kid’s school events, performances at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center and exploring the island. I also volunteer as a member of the Board of Directors or the Pa’ia Youth and Cultural Center." Billy's thoughts perfectly capture the comfortable and nurturing feel that the community and the natural environment of Maui instills in its residents.

Roan Browne (RB), has lived on Maui with his wife and children for twenty years. He is particularly fascinated with home design based on what works best in its environment. His most recent project is a totally "Green" home that he built on his farm in the Honopou Valley on Maui's north shore. For those of you that are enthusiastic about sustainable living, you should be inspired by Roan's work. His "Green" home is off the grid and it utilizes a rain catchment water system and photovoltaic solar panels for electricity. According to Roan, "...it all works beautifully".

Georgina Hunter (RS), explains her experiences on the island which sum it all up nicely. "Natural beauty and unspoiled resources are some of the attractions of the Hawaiian Islands. The air is clean, the water is clear and the people are really friendly." Her story is familiar to many. Georgina moved here from Canada after a month long vacation here. She settled down comfortably on the north shore. Georgina explains, "Since buying our first house in Paia we have developed other properties, including the 7.5 acre parcel on the north shore where we currently live, and an oceanfront cattle ranch where we raise organic beef. The countryside along the coastline of East Maui has always been our favorite location. Stretched along the Hana Highway are many little communities where life is slower and things are still the way they used to be. We enjoy a rural lifestyle that makes off-the-grid living a reality. With wind and solar power we have all the comforts of home in a 3 bedroom/2 bath house, and detached cottage. As far as I can tell, Maui is a special place and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else."

That should cover it. If you have any remaining doubts about the quality of life on the island, try visiting for a longer period, and do some research on what others have said. Please shoot an email to Jim Sanders Real Estate, Inc if you have any questions for us. Also, feel free to learn more about the wonderful Jim Sanders Realty agents.
