Maui's Renewable Energy Future

For those of you that are interested in Maui's long term future in renewable energy, there is a free workshop being offered on January 13th from noon to 1:30pm by Maui County's Energy Commissioner Dr. Victor Reyes. This is the second workshop in the series on this subject, and it's pretty exciting that the government is helping to get people interested in greener living. Seeing as energy can cost a bit more on Maui than it does on the mainland, a workshop like this is particularly valuable here.
The workshop will provide an overview of Maui's clean energy goals and address resource development, energy transportation and infrastructure, green workforce development and education, energy efficiency and conservation, as well as greenhouse gas emissions. There is a lot of pertinent information to take in regarding these issues. You should be prepared to take notes.
According to the release, some of the things you can expect to discuss will include, "the importance of energy integration and storage applications to high-level assimilation of abundant but non-dispatch able renewables into Maui County's power grid without sacrificing quality and reliability."
This workshop will take place at the Maui County Business Resource Center which is located in the Maui Mall across from IHOP. Check the Maui County Website to keep up to date on scheduling. Events like these sometimes end up cancelled for various reasons.
If you are looking to live green and get "off the grid", it is recommended that you take a look at our listings on homes in Haiku. Green living is particularly prevalent in this area because the land is lush, the weather is warm, and rainfall is far more reliable here than almost every other part of the island, and the area still manages to get plenty of sun. Haiku is ideal for growing many kinds of plants, and there are a number of gardens and orchid farms in the area. If you are the kind of person who prefers to start with a blank canvas, we can also help you find some amazing Haiku land. Be sure to browse our other North Shore homes as well, to make sure you cover all your choices.
Also bear in mind that many of our agents have worked on some amazing projects such as developing properties where green living with sustainable energy is a reality. If you wanted good counsil or advice in this department, you are certainly in the right place. You can contact us at info@jimsandersrealty.com, or by calling (808) 579-8255 to reach us at the office.
