Maui Earth Day at Baldwin Beach

On Sunday, April 19th, Earth Day will be held at Baldwin Beach between 10am and 7:30pm for the purpose of celebrating the natural world and educating the public on sustainable living. The ultimate goal is to raise appreciation and awareness for our life support system.

Cooperation and participation are necessary components to environmental health, and because Maui is such a rare treasure ecologically, it is especially important that its residents be reminded of its value.

Earth Day should be a great opportunity to network with other people who share an appreciation for envirnmental health and sustainable living. There is a well-developed community of intelligent people on the island with a healthy respect for the condition of Maui's natural systems.

The environmental challenges that the world faces today have finally begun to recieve their due credit from the media. The ecological balance of the planet is obviously changing fast, so the question of the best method for low-impact living is becoming more and more pressing.

Earth Day should keep this momentum going on the island by fostering a sense of unity among those who are concerned for their own sake as well as that of future generations. A strong emphasis will, of course, be placed on the little day-to-day actions of the individual, as these accumulate for the largest impact.

Economic concerns on the island also hinge on its environmental health. Thousands of ecotourists choose Maui for their vacation destinations every year in order to enjoy the awe inspiring natural beauty that the island has to offer, from summit to sea. The welfare of Maui residents depends heavily on our ability to preserve its magnificent ecology.

At this celebration, you will find live music, info booths, speakers, a variety of performances, Eco & Green vendors and of course, ono food. See the Maui Earth Day website for more information.

If you appreciate the greener parts of Maui, have a look at our stunning collection of Haiku homes for sale. There are some good buys among the North Shore homes for sale as well.
