Hybrid Maui Rental Cars from Enterprise

Four Enterprise rent-a-car locations in Hawaii will soon offer hybrid vehicles. Three are located on Oahu and one on Maui. Enterprise says that they will offer a larger selection of hybrid vehicles which can be reserved by phone or online.

The increase in hybrid selection is owed to a nationwide effort spanning almost one hundred locations. The Maui Enterprise location can be found at 40 Hana Highway near Kahului International Airport. Choices include the Honda Civic and Insight or the Toyota Prius.

This is good news for anyone interested in Maui's ecological health, or Oahu's. Visitors will have financial incentive to rent hybrids as they will get a lot more miles off of less fuel. Considering how many vacationers are on a budget that's tighter than usual, it is probably safe to expect that they will be quick to take advantage of this new option.

Even should a hybrid cost more to rent, the amount of money saved on gas will really add up for tourists that really plan to explore the island, as a great many of them do. The number of miles involved in a trip to Hana, Haleakala Crater or even between West Maui and South Shore areas will probably be a big motivating factor.

As for residents, it's hard to ignore how many vehicles are on the roads now. If we didn't have our vigorous winds, what might our air quality be? A lot of the cars we see are tourist rentals. The more of them driving hybrids, the better for us and Maui's environmental health.
