Hawaiian Heritage Film Festival Cultural Infusion

Heart Strings will be playing at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center on October 11th from 3-5p.m. This is a story about Kamaka and Sons, a 100 year-old family business operating out of a tiny shop in Honolulu. They make Hawaiian musical instruments and of all the other businesses doing the same at the start of the 20th century, theirs is the only one left.
This story is especially close to the heart of Hawaiian culture as it chronicles how the Kamaka and Sons Ukulele Company survived to carry on their namesake. Their Hawaiian values comprise the core of their business and reflect their unique identity and perspectives.
The story reveals how not only their hard work, honesty and fortitude carried Kamaka and Sons through the years, but so did their honesty, creativity and Hawaiian cultural point of view.
The screening is $10/person and will include a question and answer segment after the film is shown. For those of you who would like a chance to get in touch with the finest aspects of Hawaiian culture, don't miss out on this show. You can buy tickets online at Mauiarts.org.
