Learn About its Ecology if you Consider Maui Home

One of Maui's most accomplished non-profit organizations in the field of ecology is the Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project (MFBRP). In a very admirable effort to educate both visitors and Maui residents on the island's delicate and precious natural resources, the MFBRP will be hosting lectures and hikes.
Of course the MFBRP specializes in Maui's native birds, so they will be the main educational focus. The lectures should be exciting and illuminating, considering that Hawaii's amazing avian biodiversity is so impressive in and of itself. Images, sounds and video will be incorporated with the information provided to make the lecture as rich as possible.
The lectures will discuss conservation efforts as well as threats to Hawaii's native species. The first lecture of the planned series will be held on October 6th from 6:30-7:30p.m. at the National Marine Sanctuary Education Center off of S. Kihei Road in Kihei. The first hike will take place on October 10th at 9a.m. at the Nature Conservancy's Waikamoi Preserve.
The MFBRP has credited the Maui County-Hawaiian Tourism Authority on making these lectures and hikes possible, so their role in this should be appreciated. These events are free, but keep in mind that, as a non-profit, the MFBRP can always use contributions to keep their good work going.
If you want to make reservations and attend the lectures and/or hikes, you can call 808-573-0820 or email hike@mauiforestbirds.org.
