The 1st Annual Great Pulehu Challenge will be held on November 8th this year by the Rotary Club of Maui.
What does this event entail? Eight teams from Maui's non-profit organizations will compete at a BBQ cook-off challenge. There will be over $500 in cash and prizes for the winners and they will have everything from pork to chicken to beef sizzling on their grills.
Why attend? If you like live entertainment, games for kids, cooking demonstrations and a vast array of BBQ food as well as supporting Maui non-profits, then you should probably go! You can watch the demos or get a behind-the-scenes look at the competition as they cook up meat from the Maui Cattle Company using trade secrets of award winning Maui chefs.
Where is it? The BBQ challenge will be held at the Maui Community College courtyard. It'll be filled with backyard grills, barrels and portable smokers as the cookers prepare their secret BBQ recipes.
When is it? 11a.m. to 7p.m. on November 8th.
How can I help? The currency for the event is the Hogback ticket, worth $1. You can get packs of 20 or however much you need. You can use these to purchase food and drink. The proceeds from these tickets will go towards meeting the growing demand for health and human services which the participating non-profits provide to the community.
Sounds fun and delicious!
