Maui Home Grown Food Event

Care to expand your horizons and enrich your knowledge on growing your own food? There's an upcoming event in Spreckelsville that includes a weekend of "learning, sharing and honoring safe, local food and farming." It's free to attend but they require registration.
For all you Maui homeowners who are interested in green living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, growing your own food can be incredibly satisfying and rewarding. There is something fulfilling and reassuring about the knowledge that the lettuce and tomatoes in your salad came from the hard work you put in to your own back yard. Also, you can be sure that it is chemical free!
The event on the subject is called Ono Pono Home Grown Food, and will take place on Saturday, February 27 from 10:30a.m. to 4p.m. and Sunday from 9a.m. to 1p.m. at the Kaunoa Senior Center Spreckelsville.
The event will include food and agricultural experts, academics, public health specialists etc. The short film, "Malama Haloa, Protecting the Taro" will be shown and will be followed by a celebration on Maui County's law to protect taro from genetic tampering. You will also have the opportunity to exchange seeds, cuttings, and starts that have done well on Maui.
To register, email hawaiiseed@gmail.com.
