New Maui Whole Foods Store

The grand opening of Maui's first Whole Foods store is scheduled for February 24th. Located in the Maui Mall, the grocery chain is hiring as it prepares to open for business.

They expect to hire about 140 new workers for the store, which is about 26,366 square-feet. You can find job applications online at wholefoodsmarket.com. For Maui, that's a nice chunk of jobs, and at a welcome time.

Ray Stockton, the manager of the Kahala Whole Foods branch is transferring to open the Maui store, which is a good idea since an experienced hand tends to make these things run more smoothly.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Whole Foods, it's a natural and organic foods supermarket that is rather popular on the mainland, especially in California (although it was founded in Texas). One of the fun aspects of Whole Foods is that the business likes to tailor their stores to their location. In Maui's case, they plan to provide more raw and vegan options to meet the island's demand for such food. Of course there will also be organic and natural meats, seafood, produce, wines and cheeses. If they don't have one of their amazing olive bars at this location, it will be a surprise. The average Whole Foods Market carries up to 135 varieties of cheese, which rotate on a seasonal basis. Not a cheese person? Well they also offer 295 varieties of beers.

Whole Foods is replacing the old Star Market and there are high expectations that it the new supermarket will help to continue the revitalization of Maui Mall.
